I am currently Interim Director of the School of Digital Sciences at Kent State University, in Kent, Ohio. I was formerly Interim Director of the School of Visual Communication Design, and prior to that, was Concentration Coordinator of User Experience Design, in the iSchool, also at Kent State University. I have also taught in Library Science programs at the University of Pittsburgh, and at Louisiana State University.
I was born in Hampton, Virginia, moved to the Denver, Colorado area when I was 14 years old, and graduated from Bear Creek High School, near Morrison, Colorado. I have lived for some time in Fort Collins and Vail, Colorado, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Denton, Texas, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
I have always loved the outdoors and physical movement. I cannot sit still. I have no idea how I've maintained a career that requires sedentary effort. Nevertheless, I have persisted.
I love what I see when I'm walking around. I feel the need to capture it and make it communicate what I feel when I see it.
The following degrees have come from my formal education:
* BFA Colorado State University, 1986
* MS, Library Science, University of North Texas, 1993
* PhD Information Science, University of North Texas, 1998
